Big Trucks & Bigger Smiles

There’s something magical about watching a child climb into the driver’s seat of a giant dump truck with the same expression an astronaut might wear boarding a rocket.

Thanks to the incredible support from our community, we welcomed both the Marquette County Sheriff's Department and the Marquette County EMS for an afternoon packed with family fun and community connection.

Kids bounced from truck to truck like pinballs fueled by excitement, while parents chatted with deputies and EMS crews about the important work they do every day. There’s something wonderfully human about seeing emergency responders outside of emergencies, laughing with kids and answering questions.
The fun didn’t stop with the vehicles. Families climbed aboard barrel train rides, challenged each other at games, cooled off with colorful shaved ice from the food truck, and turned plain white t-shirts into swirling tie-dye masterpieces worthy of a summer camp art gallery. Everywhere you looked, there were neon fingerprints, sticky blue tongues from shaved ice, and smiles stretched wider than a fire truck bumper.
Best of all, the event helped raise money for both the Sheriff’s Department and EMS team. Every shaved ice, every tie-dyed shirt, and every donation helped support the organizations that show up for our community day and night.
Events like this remind us that community isn’t built only during emergencies or big moments. Sometimes it’s built through shared laughter beside an ambulance, kids waving from the cab of a tractor, and a train made of barrels rumbling through the campground like the happiest little parade on earth.

Thank you to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, and helped make the event such a success. Until next year, keep those siren sound effects polished and your tie-dye bright. 🚑🎨
