6 Ways to Support the Food Bank During Puckaway Pigfest

What Can You Do to Help the Food Bank During Puckaway Pigfest?

Puckaway Pigfest isn’t just a weekend of fun, food, and friendly competition—it’s also a chance to make a real difference in our community. Every dollar raised and every item donated goes directly to supporting the Care & Share Food Bank and the Marquette County Food Bank. These organizations work tirelessly to ensure families in need have access to essential food and personal care items.

Here’s how YOU can join in their mission during Pigfest weekend:

1. Bring a Donation at the Gate

Admission to Puckaway Pigfest is simple: just bring a donation! The Food Bank is especially looking for personal hygiene products and canned goods, so every item counts. Stock up on things like toothpaste, soap, shampoo, and shelf-stable pantry items before you come.

2. Volunteer Your Time

Want to be part of something bigger? The Food Bank and Pigfest team could always use an extra set of hands! Whether it’s helping organize donations, assisting with events, or guiding guests, volunteering is one of the most impactful ways to give back.

3. Test Your Strength in Steinholding (Friday Night)

Think you’ve got the stamina to hold a full stein of beer at shoulder level the longest? Prove it in our Steinholding Competition on Friday night!

  • Separate men’s and women’s categories

  • Winner gets a Lake Arrowhead sweatshirt of your choice AND keeps the stein!

  • Entry is free, but we encourage a $5 freewill donation to the Care & Share Food Bank

  • Meet us in the White Tent

Raise your stein, raise some funds, and raise spirits while helping a great cause!

4. Cook Up Your Best Chili or Dessert

If you love cooking (or just showing off in the kitchen), consider entering one of our cash prize competitions:

  • Friday, September 5th: Chili Cook-Off ($20 entry fee, turn in by 5 PM)

  • Saturday, September 6th: Dessert Competition ($20 entry fee, turn in by 2 PM)

Half of all the money raised goes straight to the Food Bank, and the other half gets split between two lucky winners in each contest. It’s a win-win—feed the fun AND fuel the mission!

5. Be a Taster and Cast Your Vote

Not a cook? No problem! You can still make a difference (and fill your belly). For just a $10 donation to the Food Bank, you can sample all the entries and vote for your favorites. Whether it’s chili on Friday or desserts on Saturday, every bite you take helps support local families in need.

6. Spread the Word

The more people who know about Pigfest and the Food Bank’s mission, the greater the impact. Share this event with friends, family, and on social media. Every share can lead to more donations, more volunteers, and more hope for those who need it most.

Together, we can turn a weekend of fun into a season of giving. Join us September 5th and 6th at Lake Arrowhead Campground for Puckaway Pigfest—and help us make a difference one raised stein, one bowl of chili, one sweet treat, and one generous act at a time.
